(a) Joseph, also called JUSTO, who was nominated, together with Matthias, to fill the vacancy left by Judas Iscariot (Acts 1:23).

(b) The surname of Judas, who with Silas was sent to Antioch with the decision reached by the Jerusalem church regarding the controversy as to whether or not to circumcise converts from among the Gentiles.

He and Silas are called “chief among the brothers” and “prophets” who exhorted the brothers and confirmed them (Acts 15:22, 27, 32).
