ANGER
Anger, when it takes possession of man, is generally a manifestation of the sinful nature of man who is angry, and God’s disapproval of it and its effects is evident.
“The wrath of man does not work the righteousness of God” (James 1:20), and the Scriptures insist again and again against this state of mind (Ps. 37:8; Prov. 12:16; 15: 1; 19:19; 26:17; 27:4; 29:11; 2 Cor. 12:20; Gal. 5:20; Eph. 4:31; Col. 3:8; 1 Tim. 2:8) .
Anger, in man, is sinful in that it is the fruit of his fallen nature, of his selfishness.
Through anger, man can lose self-control, something that God hates.
The believer is exhorted to be sober (1 Thes. 5:6; Tit. 1:8; 2:2, 12; 1 Pet. 1:13; 4:7; 5:8), which evidently implies sobriety in his way of acting, the control of their emotions, for the glory of God.
