Gary Demonte Chapman (born January 10, 1938) is an American author and radio talk show host. Chapman is most noted for his The Five Love Languages series regarding human relationships.
Dr. Gary Chapman is the author of the bestselling The 5 Love Languages (more than 12 million copies sold) and numerous other marriage and family books.
He studied at Moody Bible Institute in theology and earned a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) and a Master of Arts (M.A.) degree in anthropology from Wheaton College and from Wake Forest University. He also earned a Master of Religious Education (M.R.E.) and a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degrees in adult education from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary.
Chapman joined the staff of Calvary Baptist Church in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, in 1971 and shares the responsibilities of teaching and family care
He is the director of Marriage and Family Life Consultants, Inc.; an internationally known speaker; and the host of A Love Language Minute, a syndicated radio program heard on more than 200 stations across North America. He and his wife, Karolyn, live in North Carolina.
