Matt Chandler is the senior teaching pastor of Highland Village First Baptist Church in Flower Mound, Texas, now known as The Village Church. In 1999, he married his wife, Lauren. They have three children: Audrey, Reid and Norah.
He is also President of the Red Acts 29 strong> (Acts 29). He has written with Jared Wilson the book The Explicit Gospel strong> (The Explicit Gospel), was published in 2012. It explains what is the gospel and how it has been misinterpreted.
The Village Church strong> has an average growth rate of more than a thousand people per year. Chandler believes that the growth after his arrival helped him make many changes.
Miracle in the life of Matt Chandler strong>
On the morning of Thanksgiving 2009, Chandler had a seizure at home [10] and was subsequently diagnosed with anaplastic oligodendroglioma, a malignant brain tumor. Chandler commented in June 2010 that he believed that God healed his cancer strong>. He received treatment at the Baylor University medical center and was discharged, no trace of cancer strong> in September 2010.
In March 2012, Matt Chandler was named president of Acts 29 Network strong>, succeeding Mark Driscoll, who had helped found the network of church planters. Acts 29 Network strong> is a church association that has grown to more than 400 churches in the United States and around the world
