DAILY PRAYER

Prayer To Choose a Good Name

7

Your 'name' as king Solomon put it in the proverb, is your reputation. And your reputation derives from your character. If you have a bad character and you are a great actor, for a while, you might enjoy a good reputation BUT one day, your reputation will match up with your real character and you will be exposed.

Prayer To Choose a Good Name | Daily Prayer

"A good name is to be chosen rather than great riches, and favor is better than silver or gold." — Proverbs 22:1 (ESV)

Daily Exhortation

America celebrates President Abraham Lincoln today. He was a man known for his humility and wisdom. He once said "Character is like a tree and reputation like a shadow. The shadow is what we think of it; the tree is the real thing."

Your 'name' as king Solomon put it in the proverb, is your reputation. And your reputation derives from your character. If you have a bad character and you are a great actor, for a while, you might enjoy a good reputation BUT one day, your reputation will match up with your real character and you will be exposed.

Therefore, you need to work on your character—to make it good. When you have good character, all things being equal, you should have a good name or reputation.

That good reputation is more important than great riches because it can get you great riches. It can also get you favor which can bring you anything you want... even silver and gold. Please build the right foundation.

Today's Prayers

1. Good Morning Holy Spirit!

2. Spirit of God, I ask this morning that You take the word of God that I read or listen to and constantly bring them into my remembrance, in the name of Jesus.

3. As the word fills me up, use it to begin to operate upon my heart and my mind, in the name of Jesus.

4. My Father, let the work of the Spirit cause me to face and address the negative aspects of my character and to halt them, in the name of Jesus.

5. O God, through the power of Your Holy Spirit, let the consciousness of right living and holiness take charge of my personality so I can begin living out Your word as the core of my character, in the name of Jesus.

6. Merciful God, let the renewal of my character through Your word and Spirit cause me to have a good reputation and a good name, in the name of Jesus.

7. Thank You Father for answering my prayers and for the benefits of a good name which I will enjoy in abundance, according to Your word, in Jesus' name, amen.

If you have the need and the time, please feel free to add more prayers at this point.

Blessing: May the workings of the Spirit in you produce for you a good name and may you enjoy all the benefits attached, in the name of Jesus.

As much as God hates sin, He loves sinners

DAILY DEVOTIONAL

God So Loved the World

John MacArthur
For scarcely for a righteous man will one die; yet perhaps for a good man someone would even dare to die. But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.
Whenever someone trusts Christ, it is God who opens the heart to believe.

How We Come to Faith

John MacArthur
No one can come to Me unless the Father who sent Me draws him . . . no one can come to Me unless it has been granted to him by My Father.
The apostle Paul learned to emphasize the eternal after meeting Christ.

DAILY DEVOTIONAL

Learning To Think Eternally

David Jeremiah
In his book Maximum Achievement, corporate trainer Brian Tracy writes, “Virtually everything you do is the result of habit. The way you talk, the way you work, drive, think, interact with others, spend money and deal with the important people in your life are all largely habitual.”
Jesus Christ, the mediator, came to break the wall of enmity and to secure peace for us with God.

Our Great Mediator In Life—Jesus Christ

Augustine Ampratwum-Duah
In our world, mediation is crucial in dispute resolution. A mediator assists and guides parties toward an amicable and acceptable resolution, and they conduct mediation in a fair and unbiased manner. However, the Bible says there is one mediator! There is not one mediator for kings and another for their subjects, not one for the rich and another for the poor.
Nothing is too small for you to bring to Him in prayer. He has the answer you seek to every question.

DAILY DEVOTIONAL

A Refuge and Rock

Charles Stanley
King David often used words such as refuge and rock to explain his relationship with God. For him, God was a refuge—a place where he could go anytime to find encouragement and understanding.
