The poor beggar Bartimaeus of Jericho knew that Jesus was passing through, and he continually called out, “Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me!” Jesus was impressed with Bartimaeus’s faith that his blindness could be cured.
He did so, and Bartimaeus “received his sight and followed Jesus on the road” (Mark 10:46–52).
