BEEROT
(a) One of the stopping places of the Israelites in the wilderness (Deut. 10:6).
(b) One of the four cities of the Hivites that tricked Joshua into making a peace treaty with them. She was given to Benjamin (Josh. 9:17; 18:25; 2 Sam. 4:2).
It is identified with «Bireh», 31° 54′ N, 35° 13′ E, about 11 km north of Jerusalem. After the Babylonian captivity, several went to repopulate this city (Ezra 2:25; Neh. 7:29).
