Canaanite tribe, named between the Arvadites and the Hamathites (Gen. 10:18; 1 Chron. 1:16); It occupied the site of modern Sumra, formerly Sumur, Simirra (Gr. “Symira”), on the Mediterranean coast, between Arvad and Tripoli.
