AHIJAH
“brother of the Lord or the Lord is brother.” (a) A prophet from Shiloh who announced to King Jeroboam the division of the kingdom and the death of the prince (1 Kings 11:29-39; 14:1-18).
(b) Great-grandson of Eli, high priest in the time of Saul, and elder brother of Ahimelech, or perhaps the same under another name.
(c) Seven other Old Testament people mentioned in 1 Chron. 2:25; 8:7; 11:36; 26:20; 1 Kings 4:3; 15:27; Neh. 10:26. The name is also found with other spelling forms: Achías, Achía, Ahijas and Ahijas.
