AHIMAAS
“powerful brother.” (a) Father of Ahinoam, wife of Saul (1 Sam. 14:50).
(b) Son of Zadok the priest (2 Sam. 15:27, 36).
When Absalom rebelled and David had to flee from Jerusalem, Zadok remained faithful to David, and returned to Jerusalem, while Ahimaaz, and Jonathan, son of Abiathar, remained in Enrogel; To them Zadok sent news of the advice of Ahithophel and Hushai.
He later brought news of Absalom’s defeat to David, leaving another messenger to deliver the news of Absalom’s death to the king (2 Sam. 18:19-29).
We have no evidence that Ahimaaz succeeded to the priesthood. He may have died before his father.
(c) Solomon’s governor in Naphtali (1 Kings 4:15).
