“pleasant brother.” (a) Daughter of Ahimaaz and wife of Saul (1 Sam. 14:50).

(b) Wife of David, she came from Jezreel; she accompanied David in his escape from Saul; while she resided in Ziklag, she was taken captive when the city was conquered and burned by the Amalekites; but she was rescued (1 Sam. 25:43; 27:3; 30:5, 18).

She was with David when he came to the throne at Hebron, and there she gave birth to David’s firstborn son, Amnon (2 Sam. 2:2; 3:2; 1 Chron. 3:1).
