ASP
The Hebrew word designates a very poisonous snake other than the viper. Sometimes it is the “naja” or Egyptian cobra, extremely poisonous, small, yellowish green, with brown spots and an expandable neck.
It was used by Cleopatra to kill herself. It is mentioned frequently in the Bible (Deut. 32:33; Jb. 20:14; Ps. 58:5; 91:13; Is. 18:8). It is sometimes translated as serpent, although the correct translation in these passages is asp. It is currently rare in Palestine.
