Aramaic kings of Damascus:
(a) The king of the southern kingdom (Judah) confederated with Benadad I (1 Kings 15:18 et seq.) against the king of the northern kingdom, Israel.
(b) Shalmaneser II of Assyria defeated a coalition perhaps led by Benadad II in 854, and Benadad II then fought, although unsuccessfully, against the northern kingdom, Israel (1 Kings 20:1-34).
(c) Benadad III was defeated by Assyria around 790 BC. and therefore he could not achieve any further success (2 Kings 13:24 et seq.) against the northern kingdom, Israel.
