BETH-AVEN
Place or “desert” of Benjamin near Bethel (Josh. 7:2; 18:12; 1 Sam. 13:5; 14:23; Hos. 4:15; 5:8; 10:5).
Although it is said to be east of Bethel, in Hosea it seems that it is the name given to Bethel itself, no longer being the “house of God”, but rather a “house of iniquity” due to the idols present there.
