BETH-ZUR
City in the territory of the tribe of Judah, south of Jerusalem (Josh. 15:58), fortified by King Rehoboam (2 Chron. 11:7); after captivity, district capital; in the war of the Maccabees, a stronghold for which they fought hard.
Today only ruins of the highest city in Palestine (1,000 m above sea level).
