BOSOM
Term used symbolically of the seat of great affection. John speaks of the Lord Jesus as the Only Begotten Son “in the bosom of the Father” (John 1:18).
The tender and sacred relationship between husband and wife is also called the “breast” (Deut. 28:54, 56).
In the East, things are carried in the bosom using loose clothing and a belt, even lambs (Is. 40:11; cf. Luke 6:38).
