BROAD BEAN
Beans (Heb. “pol”) were part of the Israelite diet (2 Sam. 17:28); Occasionally, especially in times of famine, they were mixed with grain to make coarse bread (Ez. 4:9).
The common bean, “Vicia faba”, is still widely used in Palestine.
