CHASM

CHASM

Term used to express the impassability of the separation between the Bosom of Abraham, where the blessed dead rested, and the place of torment in which the ungodly dead are found (Lk. 16:26). This term (Gk.: “chasma”) is used once in the NT.

In the LXX it is used to describe the depth of the great pit into which Absalom’s lifeless body was thrown (2 Sam. 18:17).
