CHISLON

CHISLON

“that meanders.” River that rises on the slopes of Mount Tabor and irrigates the valley of Esdraelón. It flows into the Mediterranean north of Mount Carmel.

A dry stream during the summer, in most of its course, in the winter it becomes a mighty stream and the valley becomes a swamp (Judg. 4:13; 5:21).

From Mount Carmel onwards it has a constant current, as several tributaries feed it. Elijah killed the priests of Baal on the banks of the Kishon (1 Kings 18:40).
