CILICIA
Province of Asia Minor; It is located between Cappadocia to the north, with the Taurus mountain range as its limit; Lycaonia and Isauria to the east, the limit being Mount Amano; The Mediterranean borders it to the south, and it borders Pamphylia to the west.
It was divided into two provinces. The western, mountainous area was one of them. The eastern, flat area was the other province. Tarsus was the main town on the plain, and was the birthplace of the apostle Paul (Acts 21:39; 22:3; 23:34).
Cilicia belonged to the kingdom of Syria. Jews from Cilicia argued with Stephen (Acts 6:9). The gospel came soon to this province (Acts 15:23); There is no doubt that Paul had a good part in it (Acts 9:30; Gal. 1:21).
Traveling through Cilicia, he strengthened the churches he had founded (Acts 15:41). Later, already imprisoned and heading to Rome, he sailed through the Sea of Cilicia (Acts 27: 5).
