GEBA

GEBA

“hill”.
City on the northeastern border of Benjamin (Josh. 18:24).
It was one of the cities later given to the Levites.

When the kingdom was divided, it became the northernmost tip of Judah.
From 1 Sam. 14:5 it appears that Geba was located south of the Michmas Pass. The Reina-Valera version says here Gibeah; It should be Geba.

This was the scene of the adventurous enterprise of Jonathan and his armor bearer against the Philistines.
It is identified with the town of Jeba’, which occupies the ancient town. It is located about 10 km north of Jerusalem.

It was fortified by Asa with materials that his enemy Baasha had used to fortify Ramah against him (1 Kings 15:22).

It is frequently confused with Gabaa in various versions, due to the similarity of the names in the original.
