GOLIATH

GOLIATH

The giant of Gath, who for forty days challenged the armies of Israel.

He was killed by David with a sling and a stone, in the name of Jehovah.
David cut off her head, taking her to Jerusalem.

Goliath’s sword was kept in the tabernacle, and David later took possession of it again.

His height was six cubits and a span (more than 2.5 meters, counting the smallest cubit).

Type of Satan, too powerful for anyone to defeat except in the power of the Lord.

Here, David is a type of the Lord Jesus (1 Sam. 17:4-23; 21:9).
With reference to 2 Sam. 21:19, it is evident that this is Goliath’s “brother” named Lahmi, killed by Elhanan (cp. the parallel passage of 1 Chron. 20:5).

It is evident that there has been corruption here in the transmission of the text.
