GRILLE
Iron device that is part of the plow, and that is applied to the earth to break it and turn it over (see PLOW).
The Israelites of the time of the judges were unaware of iron metallurgy, of which the Philistines were jealous guardians, since their monopoly gave them military dominance.
Therefore, they depended on the Philistines to supply and sharpen their plowshares (Judg. 13:20, 21).
In messianic times, the instruments of war will be turned into implements of peace, which is expressed in Isaiah 2:4: “they will beat their swords into plowshares.”
