(a) Son of Heman, and chief of the eighteenth of the twenty-four orders of musicians appointed by David to praise Jehovah in the sanctuary (1 Chron. 25:4, 25).

(b) Father of the prophet Jehu (1 Kings 16:1), and a seer himself. He rebuked King Asa who had him imprisoned (2 Chr. 16:7-10)

(c) One of Nehemiah’s brothers, who gave him news of Jerusalem (Neh. 1:2). He and the chief of the fortress were charged with the government of the city (Neh. 7:2) (d) Priest, son of Imer. Ezra persuaded him to send away his foreign wife (Ezra 10:20).

(e) Levite who played a musical instrument at the dedication of the walls of Jerusalem by Nehemiah (Neh. 12:36).
