HUR
(a) Man of Judah, of the family of Hezron (1 Chron. 2:18, 19). He was the grandfather of Bezaleel (1 Chron. 2:20; Ex. 31:1, 2). Hur and Aaron held Moses’ arms during the battle against Amalek at Rephidim (Ex. 17:10-12).
Moses declared that as he ascended Sinai, Aaron and Hur would judge the Israelites. Many centuries later, Josephus states that Hur was the husband of Moses’ sister Mary (Ant. 3:2, 4). The OT does not record anything regarding this.
(b) One of the five kings of Midian defeated and killed by Moses (Num. 31:8; Josh. 13:21).
(c) Father of one of Solomon’s stewards; he lived in the hill country of Ephraim (1 Kings 4:8).
(d) Father of a certain Rephaiah (Neh. 3:9).
