KNEE

KNEE

The joint between the thigh and the leg. In the Scriptures it is mentioned in numerous graphic expressions: Giving birth on another woman’s knees meant giving her child as if it were her own (Gen. 30:3; see NUZU);

raising children on the knees denotes special attention and full of affection and care (Gen. 50:23); weak or weak knees (Jb. 4:4; Ps. 109:24; Ezek. 7:17; 21:7; Dan. 5:6; Nah. 2:10; Heb. 12:12) denote the weakness caused by anguish and fear. Bending the knee indicates submission and recognition of authority (Gen. 41:43; 1 Kings 19:18; 2 Kings 1:13; Is. 45:23; Mr. 1:40).

Every knee will bow to God (Rom. 14:11), to God manifest in the flesh, the Lord Jesus, when he appears in glory (Phil. 2:10). The Christian prays on his knees in supplication and thanksgiving (Acts 9:40; 20:36; 21:5; Eph. 3:14).
