City of Lycia. Paul, a prisoner and on his way to Rome, changed ships at this port (Acts 27:5, 6). The city, one of the most important in Lycia, was three kilometers from the coast.

It was built on and around cliffs, at the entrance of a gorge that enters the mountainous region of the interior. The modern name of this city is Dembra.
