MESHACH
“Who is what God is?” (a) Levite of the family of Kohath and the house of Uzziel (Ex. 6:22; Lev. 10:4). (b) One of Daniel’s three friends; the Babylonians called him Meshach (Dan. 1:6, 11,19; 2:17; 1 Mac. 2:59).
Meshach, whose name was Mishael in Hebrew, was a biblical figure mentioned in the book of Daniel in the Old Testament. Along with his companions, Shadrach and Abed-Nego, Meshach was one of the young Jews taken captive to Babylon during the reign of King Nebuchadnezzar.
