(Old Persian: “gift of Mithras”; see MITRA, (b)). (a) Treasurer under Cyrus king of Persia; He was the one who returned the sacred vessels to the Jews (Ezra 1:8).
(b) One of those who, under Artaxerxes Longimanus, complained about the restoration of the walls of Jerusalem by the Jews (Ezra 4:7).
