NICOPOLIS
(Gr.: “city of victory”).
Locality in which Paul hoped to winter together with Titus (Tit. 3:12).
It is highly probable that it is Nicopolis in Epirus, 6 km from Actium.
Augustus built Nicopolis in 30 AD. to commemorate his victory; Herod the Great built numerous public buildings there (Ant. 16:5, 3).
The ruins of Nicopolis are located in Preveza.
