OBEDIENCE

OBEDIENCE

Obedience to God is one of the supreme duties of men (Acts 4:17), because He is the Maker (Acts 5:29; Ps. 95:6), and men depend on His goodness (Ps. 145; Acts 14:17) and are subject to His law (Ps. 119).

Obedience to God-Christ is also due because He has redeemed us with His blood (1 Cor. 6:20).

Obedience to God must be done from the heart (1 Jn. 5:2-7), in all things and in every place (Rom. 2:7; Gal. 6:9). Obedience is also due to parents, and in this sense it is called filial obedience (Ex. 20:12; Eph. 6:1; Col. 3:20).

Christians obey rulers and laws (Rom. 13:1-5; Ti. 3:1) for the sake of conscience.
