OSTRICH
Bird of the family “struthinidae”, order “Cursores”. It is classified among the impure birds by the Law of Moses. He lives in desert places (Is. 13:21; 34:13; 43:20; Jer. 50:39).
It leaves its eggs in the sand, well covered. The sun warms them during the day, and the parents sit on them at night.
Other eggs are left unprotected so that when the new ostriches hatch from their eggs they have food.
As for the indifference of the ostriches towards their own (Jb. 39:13-18), it is illustrated by their flight when hunters approach, abandoning the nest.
