PATROS

(Egyptian: “country of the noon”).
Name designating Upper Egypt; in Isa. 11:11, this name appears between Egypt and Ethiopia.
The Egyptians were originally from there (Ez. 29:14).

Herodotus reports that Menes, the first historical Egyptian ruler, resided in Upper Egypt; In the time of this king, the entire plain north of Lake Meris was marshy (Herodotus 2:4, 15, 99).

Isaiah prophesied the dispersion of the people of Israel and their definitive return from the most distant countries, including Patros (Is. 11:11; cf. 7:18).

When Nebuchadnezzar took possession of Jerusalem, Jews took refuge in Patros (Jer. 44:1, 2, 15).
