PROCONSUL
(lat. “viceconsul”). He was a governor of a Roman province under the jurisdiction of the Senate (Acts 13:7; 18:12; 19:38).
He held the position for one year, and administered the province with the authority of a consul. He was helped by quaestors, who collected taxes and deposited them in the treasury administered by the Senate.
