SACK

SACK

A coarse fabric made of hair, with which coarse jackets and dresses were made. When someone wore a jacket as a symbol of pain or regret, it was worn in direct contact with the skin, and was not taken off at night; In these cases ashes were a frequent accompaniment (1 Kings 21:27; 2 Kings 6:30; Jb. 16:15; JI. 1:13; Rev. 6:12, etc.).
