SOREK

SOREK

“chosen vine.”
Valley in which Delilah lived (Judges 16:4). It is the current wadi es-Sarãr. It begins about 21 km west of Jerusalem, slightly south, and follows a sinuous course towards the northwest. Its river flows into the Mediterranean about 13 km south of Jafa.

Some ruins, which still bear the name of Sûrîk, are located to the north of the valley, just over 3 km from Zora, Samson’s hometown.
