TAMBOURINE
Originally a kind of drum, probably square, which soon transformed into the circular tambourine we know; The Hebrews called it “toph”, a percussion instrument.
During secular festivals, the singers and dancers were accompanied by the tambourine.
In worship, the tambourine was sometimes used alone, or accompanied by various instruments (Gen. 31:27; Ex. 15:20; Judges 11:34; 1 Sam. 10:5; 18:6; 1 Chron. 13:8; Jb. 21:12; Ps. 81:3; Is. 5:12).
