TOGARMAH

TOGARMAH

Country on the northern limit (Ez. 38:6), inhabited by a people descended from Japheth and Gomer (Gen. 10:3). They traded in horses and mules (Ez. 27:14). It is commonly identified with Armenia.

Delitzsch, however, believes he recognizes Togarma in the name of Ti-garimmu, a city on the western border of Cappadocia and which appears in Assyrian inscriptions. The Assyrians destroyed it in 695 BC.
