Upon returning from his third missionary journey, the apostle stayed in Troas for seven days (Acts 20:6). During one of his stays, he left a cloak and parchments at Carpus's house (2 Tim. 4:13).
Troas, a prosperous maritime city, center of communications between Macedonia and Asia Minor, was 24 km southwest of ancient Ilion (Troy). The ruins of Troas are located in Istanbul.
