ZICHRI

ZICHRI

“careful”. (a) Levite of the family of Kohath, of the house of Izhar (Ex. 6:21).

(b) Benjamite, son of Shimei (1 Chron. 8:19).

(c) Benjamite, son of Shashak (1 Chr. 8:23).

(d) Benjamite, son of Jeroham (1 Chron. 8:27).

(e) Levite, son of Asaph (1 Chr. 9:15). In all likelihood, this Zicri is the Zacur (same root) of 1 Chr. 25:2, 10; Neh. 12:35. He appears under the name Zabdi in Neh. 11:17.

(f) Levite descended from Eliezer, the son of Moses (1 Chr. 26:25).

(g) Reubenite (1 Chr. 27:16).

(h) Man of the tribe of Judah, father of Amaziah; the latter was one of the leaders of Jehoshaphat’s army (2 Chron. 17:16). It is highly plausible that this Zicri was also the father of Elisaphat, who helped overthrow Queen Athaliah (2 Chron. 23:1).

(i) Ephraimite of the army of Pekah; He slew Maaseiah, prince of royal blood, and two of King Ahaz’s chief officers (2 Chron. 28:7).

(j) Benjamite (Neh. 11:9).

(k) Priest, head of the patriarchal house of Abijah (Neh. 12:17).
