In the Bible, the institution of marriage is often discussed, including the roles and responsibilities of husbands within the marital relationship. Throughout the scriptures, there are various verses that provide guidance, wisdom, and encouragement for husbands.

These verses offer insights into how husbands should love, honor, and care for their wives, as well as how they should conduct themselves within their families and communities. Bible verses that specifically address the role of husbands:

  1. Ephesians 5:25 - "Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her."

  2. Colossians 3:19 - "Husbands, love your wives and do not be harsh with them."

  3. 1 Peter 3:7 - "Husbands, in the same way, be considerate as you live with your wives, and treat them with respect as the weaker partner and as heirs with you of the gracious gift of life, so that nothing will hinder your prayers."

  4. Proverbs 18:22 - "He who finds a wife finds what is good and receives favor from the Lord."

  5. 1 Corinthians 7:3 - "The husband should fulfill his marital duty to his wife, and likewise the wife to her husband."

  6. Genesis 2:24 - "That is why a man leaves his father and mother and is united to his wife, and they become one flesh."

  7. 1 Timothy 5:8 - "Anyone who does not provide for their relatives, and especially for their own household, has denied the faith and is worse than an unbeliever."

  8. Ecclesiastes 9:9 - "Enjoy life with your wife, whom you love, all the days of this meaningless life that God has given you under the sun—all your meaningless days. For this is your lot in life and in your toilsome labor under the sun."

  9. Malachi 2:14-15 - "You ask, 'Why?' It is because the Lord is the witness between you and the wife of your youth. You have been unfaithful to her, though she is your partner, the wife of your marriage covenant. Has not the one God made you? You belong to him in body and spirit. And what does the one God seek? Godly offspring. So be on your guard, and do not be unfaithful to the wife of your youth."

  10. Titus 2:4-5 - "Then they can urge the younger women to love their husbands and children, to be self-controlled and pure, to be busy at home, to be kind, and to be subject to their husbands, so that no one will malign the word of God."

  11. Proverbs 19:14 - "Houses and wealth are inherited from parents, but a prudent wife is from the Lord."

  12. Proverbs 31:10 - "A wife of noble character who can find? She is worth far more than rubies."

  13. 1 Corinthians 11:3 - "But I want you to realize that the head of every man is Christ, and the head of the woman is man, and the head of Christ is God."

  14. 1 Corinthians 11:11-12 - "Nevertheless, in the Lord woman is not independent of man, nor is man independent of woman. For as woman came from man, so also man is born of woman. But everything comes from God."

  15. Ephesians 5:28 - "In this same way, husbands ought to love their wives as their own bodies. He who loves his wife loves himself."

  16. 1 Peter 3:1-2 - "Wives, in the same way submit yourselves to your own husbands so that, if any of them do not believe the word, they may be won over without words by the behavior of their wives, when they see the purity and reverence of your lives."

  17. 1 Corinthians 13:4-7 - "Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres."

  18. Proverbs 12:4 - "A wife of noble character is her husband’s crown, but a disgraceful wife is like decay in his bones."

  19. Proverbs 31:11-12 - "Her husband has full confidence in her and lacks nothing of value. She brings him good, not harm, all the days of her life."

  20. Ephesians 5:33 - "However, each one of you also must love his wife as he loves himself, and the wife must respect her husband."

  21. 1 Peter 4:8 - "Above all, love each other deeply, because love covers over a multitude of sins."

  22. Proverbs 5:18-19 - "May your fountain be blessed, and may you rejoice in the wife of your youth. A loving doe, a graceful deer— may her breasts satisfy you always, may you ever be intoxicated with her love."

  23. Proverbs 31:23 - "Her husband is respected at the city gate, where he takes his seat among the elders of the land."

  24. 1 Corinthians 7:4 - "The wife does not have authority over her own body but yields it to her husband. In the same way, the husband does not have authority over his own body but yields it to his wife."

  25. Proverbs 20:6-7 - "Many claim to have unfailing love, but a faithful person who can find? The righteous lead blameless lives; blessed are their children after them."

  26. Proverbs 31:28-29 - "Her children arise and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praises her: 'Many women do noble things, but you surpass them all.'"

  27. Proverbs 31:30 - "Charm is deceptive, and beauty is fleeting; but a woman who fears the Lord is to be praised."

  28. Proverbs 31:31 - "Honor her for all that her hands have done, and let her works bring her praise at the city gate."

  29. Ecclesiastes 4:9-12 - "Two are better than one, because they have a good return for their labor: If either of them falls down, one can help the other up. But pity anyone who falls and has no one to help them up. Also, if two lie down together, they will keep warm. But how can one keep warm alone? Though one may be overpowered, two can defend themselves. A cord of three strands is not quickly broken."

  30. Ephesians 5:22-33 - "Wives, submit yourselves to your own husbands as you do to the Lord. For the husband is the head of the wife as Christ is the head of the church, his body, of which he is the Savior. Now as the church submits to Christ, so also wives should submit to their husbands in everything. Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her to make her holy, cleansing her by the washing with water through the

Psalm 19 tells us that, unless you repress it, you can still hear the stars singing about their maker.

DAILY DEVOTIONAL

From Heavenly Greatness to Inexhaustible Love

Timothy Keller
The number of stars is still uncountable by human science, yet God knows them by name (verse 4; cf. Isaiah 40:26). Job speaks of the creation, when “the morning stars sang together and all the angels shouted for joy” (Job 38:7).
This Christmas season, let’s remember to thank Him for His most precious gift to us: Himself.

DAILY DEVOTIONAL

The Gift of Himself

David Jeremiah
Long ago, there ruled a wise and good king in Persia who loved his people and often dressed in the clothes of a working man or a beggar so he could visit the poor and learn about their hardships.
Father, as we honor the birth of your Son, let us think on mercy, healing, and reconciliation. Amen.

DAILY DEVOTIONAL

Healing Time

J. Stephen Lang
1868: On this date a political leader who grew up poor, had no formal education and was illiterate until his wife taught him to read and write, issued Proclamation 179 “granting full pardon and amnesty for the offense of treason against the United States during the late Civil War.”
Christmas means you have an eternal home waiting for you. That should make more than the angels sing!

DAILY DEVOTIONAL

A Personal Promise

Charles Stanley
Jesus came to earth with the view of offering you salvation. He wanted you to have a restored relationship with the Father, a relationship that was so close, so intimate, that you would have your special place in the Father’s house (John 14:1–4).
The only people in Israel who did recognize Christ at His birth were humble, unremarkable people.

DAILY DEVOTIONAL

The Unexpected Savior

John MacArthur
Scripture records that when John the Baptist began his ministry, “The people were in expectation, and all reasoned in their hearts about John, whether he was the Christ or not” (Luke 3:15).
Bible Verses

Every verse in the Bible is invaluable, because all Scripture is inspired by God
