Leonard Ravenhill (1907-1994) was a leading evangelist, preacher, and British Christian minister.
He is the author of several books and made countless preaching, many of which focused on themes of prayer, revival of the Christian faith, obedience to Christ and submission to the will of God.
Ravenhill was born and raised in the city of Leeds, Yorkshire, Great Britain. His conversion to Christianity took place when he was 15 years old. He studied at Cliff College where he was in contact with the preaching of Samuel Chadwick and began studying the history of the Christian church, having a particular interest in revivals.
He is also known for having challenged through his books and sermons the lifestyle of many modern believers and churches, urging them to be serious and speaking to them of the need to radically adhere to the teachings of Jesus Christ, in the style of early Christians.
One of his most outstanding books is "Why Revival Tarries", considered by some, a classic work, and which is estimated to have sold a million copies worldwide and has been translated into numerous languages.
