If you wind up the weights of a clock, and point the hands to the proper figures, and go away, you will find them in the same place when you go away an hour later. Set it again, and an hour later it will be as you left it. What does it need? It needs to have the pendulum swing and then it will keep time.
Now, I am continually setting Christians; and when I look again, I find them just as I left them. What all such need is to swing the pendulum of duty. Your hearts must be always ticking, if you would keep time with the Sun of Righteousness.—BEECHER.
