BATTERING RAM
A machine similar to the Roman catapult, which was used as a war machine in the sieges of cities, to breach their walls (2 Sam. 20:15; Ez. 4:2; 21:22; 26:9) .
The main part of the machine was a long, large and strong beam, with a metal head, sometimes in the shape of a ram’s head, with which the wall was attacked several times until it gave way.
