"fruitful field" or "park."
Mountain range about 22 km long, ending in a promontory that enters the Mediterranean Sea (Jer. 46:18).
It forms the southern limit of the Bay of Saint John of Acre and runs east-northwest of the Esdraelon Valley. In ancient times it must have been notable for its vegetation (Is. 33:9; Song 7:5).
The most famous event that occurred there was Elijah's encounter with the worshipers of Baal (1 Kings 18:17-46). Today it is called Jebel Kurmul.
