EMERALD
In the OT it corresponds to “nophek”, but it is not clear which stone it corresponds to. Some believe it is a carbuncle (Ex. 28:18; 39:11; Ez. 27:16; 28:13). In the NT it is “smeragdos,” which means “burning coal,” and is supposed to refer to the green emerald (Rev. 4:3; 21:19).
