OINTMENTS
The Hebrew term is “tamruq,” things that are rubbed, translated “shavings” only in Esther 3:12, although it is also used in Esther 3:2, 9, and Proverbs 20:30. These were ointments and oils for anointing the skin and hair.
Shavings composed of antimony were also used to color the eyelids; Jezebel is mentioned using it (2 Kings 9:30), and in Jer. 4:30, metaphorically, to dress up.
