PAMPHYLIA

PAMPHYLIA

Province of the southern coast of Asia Minor.
The province of Pamphylia was bounded on the north by Pisidia, on the south by a Mediterranean gulf called the Sea of Pamphylia, which Paul crossed (Acts 27:5); to the east, through Cilicia, to the west, through Lycia. There were many Jewish communities in Pamphylia (Acts 2:10); During his first missionary journey, Paul stopped at Perga and Atalia, cities of Pamphylia (Acts 13:13; 14:24, 25; 15:38).
