Important port in the Roman province of Lycia, on the southern coast of Asia Minor and opposite the island of Rhodes.
The account of Paul’s fourth journey gives us an idea of its importance (Acts 21:1-2).
It had a sanctuary dedicated to Apollo that rivaled that of Delphi.
