POND

POND

Cavity for collecting water from rain or springs; Sometimes water was carried from them, through canals, to the city or the gardens (Eccl. 2:6; Eccl. 24:40).
The pools of Bethesda, Siloam and Gihon were on the outskirts of Jerusalem.

Gibeon, Hebron, Samaria, and Heshbon also had ponds (2 Samuel 2:13; 4:12; 1 Kings 22:38; Song 7:5).
Surely the King’s pool should be identified (Neh. 2:14; 3:15; 2 Kings 3:20) with that of Siloam (Jn. 9:7), in the vicinity of which the king’s gardens were located (2 R. 25:4; Jer. 39:4; 52:7).

In all likelihood, this park was located just outside the walls, irrigated by the surplus of the Pool of Siloam.
